For you monster kids who grew up reading Famous Monsters of Filmland, and/or reading Vampirella, Forry J. Ackerman was the man behind it all who inspired everyone from Steven Spielberg to Gene Simmons. I was lucky enough to visit him a couple of times at the "Ackermansion," and attend one of his birthday parties at a restaurant in Thai Town, where Ray Bradbury and a bunch of other sci-fi, horror and fantasy luminaries sang happy birthday to him accompanied by a theremin! Here's my band Dame Fortune's tribute to him in a music video, "Up, Up and Away with Forry J." https://youtu.be/5zMqK2EbCos

The great artist Henry Ponciano and I have been working together so long I sometimes feel like we're psychically linked, but every once in a blue moon I ask for a slight adjustment in a facial expression. In the above example, in the upcoming Tinseltown: Losing the Light #4, Abby is angry, but not "scary" angry. She's more ticked off, but not to the point where she can't see the absurdity of the situation that's frustrating her. Henry's ability to nail these kind of subtle adjustments is just one of the many reasons that working with him is such a joy!

Did you know that Alterna Comic's own Ryan Winn, in his copious amounts of spare time while working on the awesome Gods & Gears, doing an amazing pin up for the first Tinseltown graphic novel, playing in a kick ass punk rock band, and working on various other comics related stuff somehow found the time to write a song about Tinseltown? The only reason I know is because he teased me with this knowledge some time ago, and then claimed that he couldn't find it, but would keep looking and get back to me when he did. That was MONTHS ago! Now, if there are any Tinseltown and/or Ryan Winn fans out there who would like to hear said song, then I guess your only recourse at this point might be to bug him mercilessly until he is forced to hunker down and produce said song. Tell him I sent ya!

I'm curious as to what everybody thinks about covers with dialogue. They used to be very common, and now they're quite rare. Peter and I have talked about how we like them and we wanted to do one for a while, but it took us this long to find one that worked! They do present some logistical problems though: 1. Is the dialogue exactly as it appears in the comic? Then it runs the risk of feeling redundant. But if it differs too much from the content of the book, then it feels like a false representation of the story inside! What do you think?
