A while back, I created some test pages for Plasmavolk. These pages demonstrate my mouse-based inking technique, grey tones, and halftone patterns. These will not be reused for the actual comic itself, since these are more like practice pages if anything.

Here's an ink test I made of my new superheroine creation "Plasmavolk". This was all 100% done with a mouse. I used the polyline tools in Clip Studio Paint EX and manually manipulated the lines to create that comic brushstroke look. I planned on using this technique for future comic projects to help speed up the inking process.

My comic art style is largely influenced by legendary Japanese cartoonists. The following were the Fujiko Fujio duo (most famous work is Doraemon), Fujio Akatsuka (Osomatsu-kun and Tensai Bakabon), and Monkey Punch (best known for Lupin III). Fujiko Fujio A Fujio Akatsuka Monkey Punch If you seen my comic pages, it's mostly monochrome with heavy use of screen tones. All of that came from looking up Japanese manga from the 1960s & 1970s. Those works from that era had a more cartoony western look. I took me ten years to get really good at creating comics and I mostly been studying these manga artists most of the time. Another thing to notice is my style of doing over-the-top expressions. Most of that came from the works of Fujiko Fujio. I know some comic artists were inspired by Japanese media. But for as me, I was looking at the more obscure stuff.

When I do gag comics, I just naturally draw out what comes to mind. When I look at back at it, I let out an ugly laugh. My exmaples are the following: Anyone else here drew something in a comic that had a "lung shattering" effect?

Anyone here had their comics in the magazine sized format? It's my standard format I tend to use for my comics as opposed to the industry standard. I noticed that Alterna doesn't have that format available, and would like to see that happen someday. The magazine sized format, in my opinion, feels like a more "broad canvas". I like doing comics in this format as it allows more room for content. Any thoughts on this format? Here's examples of what I mean from these templates:

She's a diva on the outside, but a total dork on the inside.
