Very cool, Frankie! Part of me would be down for contests for potential eyes on my work, but then again that would take me away from what I'm working on already. One off illustrations like that would be doable- if they start talking lottery to have sequentials I drew printed featuring their characters I'd have to draw the line and work on my own stuff.

@JAM Creates Solid! For me, there was about 8 hours until it ended up on the "Shorts Shelf" and views started rolling in. Seems to bounce around a bit on that time frame, and whether the video makes it to the "shelf" depends on the random frame YouTube pulls from the video. A little hit and miss depending on YT's temperment, but so long as it mostly works it's good!

I noticed MyComicShop stopped selling Alterna on their preorders- a real bummer! It was nice getting all my periodicals in one place while it lasted.

YouTube Shorts are a feature on Youtube- particularly they are videos less than 60 seconds long (YouTube prefers them 15 seconds or less- a "Vine" if you remember those from a few years back), and all the Shorts I've checked have been 9:16 (vertical recording). They list differently on mobile from other YouTube videos. This is what I found: holy crap. From this one video my subscriber count doubled, and it saw more views than the all the long-form videos I've done combined. What I did was just an hour of sketching I was going to do anyway- just recorded it, sped it up, capped it off with a close up, and rotated the video. All told about 30 minutes of editing/rendering video. So, if you're looking for a quick boost with low effort to getting eyes on your work, this YT feature seems to be a golden goose.

@Nunya Business I just need my Saturday morning cartoons on the old black and white TV my dad bought in the 70's and I'm set.

I was in a B&N looking at the magazines. I had something in hand that was ten bucks, half ads. Out of the corner of my eye, down by the women's betterment magazines, I saw some comics. "Sweet!" I thought, "let's see what these guys are all about." The following thoughts went through my mind: "News print? huh." "There are a few titles here, I guess I could give one a try." "Are these really $1.50? Some are a buck!" "I could get all these titles for less than the one magazine I'm holding." I put down the magazine and bought one of each title on the shelf.

I'm partial to the idea that the cover is the first page to the story, or sell a dramatic moment in the story- that might come from the comics I read as a kid though, my mother's and uncles' comics were still (mostly) in tact under my grandparent's stairs, tucked behind the toys and board games. Pin up covers can be fun too, but don't really sell me on reading the story if you follow my thinking. 70's Batman covers are sort of my jam.
