This one really came out of nowhere. I had actually just seen him two weeks ago at RI Comic Con signing autographs and he looked great. It saddens me to hear he took his own life and I'm sure it hits hard for his family, friends and fans.
While I was admittedly too old to fit into the target demographic for The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, I'm not ashamed to admit now that I watched it after school in my teens. I certainly didn't mention that fact to girls I was chasing around, but being a Godzilla fan in the 80's, I fucking loved kitschy, Japanese shows with guys in rubber costumes beating the shit out of each other. I remember vividly when the "Green Ranger" episodes came out and how cool the character of Tommy was. Ask anyone who the coolest Power Ranger was and they'll say either the Green Ranger or the White Ranger, but it was all Jason David Frank that made those characters memorable.
Long after the show, JDF had actually used his martial arts skills in MMA matches, and while MMA isn't my thing at all, I give credit to anyone that decides to get into a cage and fight, especially someone that had the background he did.
Blessing and prayers to the best Ranger of them all.
