Little Man lost his first tooth tonight! It was a huge moment in our house and everyone is very excited. No one saw it coming, so the Mrs. and I never went over what amount of money to leave under his pillow. When I was a kid, it was usually a buck. Maybe a quarter after a few, but the highest amount was a dollar. My wife asked around and she said everyone gives $5, which to me is INSANE. We want to be consistent. He'll wonder why his first one is five and the rest are less, or we'll have to dump a fiver under his pillow, totalling $100 all said and done. $100 to a six year old for teeth is completely nuts. I think $1 is a perfectly normal amount. $20 total to me is normal. My wife even looked it up and found out that for a total of 1,000 people polled, the average was $4.70!!!! How do you count for inflation for something that DOESN'T EXIST?!? Am I insane? What do you folks think? I'm giving him... er, I mean, "The Tooth Fairy" is giving him a dollar tonight. Anything over that I think is completely nuts...

$2 is doable. I'd be ok with that. I had thought of dropping a bigger bill on his final tooth, maybe a tenner or a twenty. He got a dollar the other night and went crazy. He thought he was rich. The parents dropping fives each tooth don't understand that to a six year old a five dollar bill is no different than a one dollar bill. It's a piece of paper with a different president on it. If you make a big deal over a buck, they'll get excited. That is exactly what happened the other night.
Maybe $2 dollars a tooth?
