This isn't really regarding Alterna Campaigns, but there's something really ticking me off about many others who do crowdfunding livestreams.
I'm sick of when an artist launches a campaign, they non-stop refresh their campaign pages to see how much money they make yet NEVER EVER look at the discussion section of their campaign to readily answer questions or issues concerning their campaigns. Especially when offering an additional perk--for we will miss out if don't answer our questions. And in my opinion, if the added perk is an additional book you want to get, there shouldn't be an extra shipping charge, for multiple books can fit in a Gemini mailer. If also ordering other items like shirts, boxes, drinking glasses, action figures, OK, I can see paying more for shipping, but if you crowdfunded and bought two books when it launched then later on buy another book, another $5-10 more for shipping is total price gouging.
I also find it ridiculous that they ONLY answer questions via "superchats". If I'm willing to invest in your product like $25-$75, it's appalling how we are expected to pay an artist to answer questions about buying their books! It's really showing that not all customers are treated equally and it looks to be such a greedy cash grab.
Plus, I feel all books should be offered to be signed. I feel that having crowdfunded books autographed adds a personal touch to the books we're investing in. There's many comic artists that sign for free at comic cons--so how can this be an issue for crowdfunding artists to sign books in the comfort of their homes?
It is making me not want to no longer contribute to many people's crowd funding.
Pete, Alterna are the crowd funding campaigns I fund the most. You are always attentive with your customers.
I've been waiting for a week to get help from a campaigner yet they're pushing to sell on a new campaign and live stream & live stream for hours & hours.
I've been a fan of this crowdfunder and purchased MANY items from them. I also defend them for they're unfairly called by the run of the mill mob word weapons of 'isms' & 'phobias'.
I am totally disappointed.
Thanks for sharing your feedback about your crowdfunding experiences -- I hope you continue to have a good experience when you support an Alterna Comics campaign or one that I personally am running!
While I can't comment on how other people are running their campaigns, I certainly understand where you're coming from. It's a frustrating situation and one that I've experienced as well. It hasn't necessarily turned me off from crowdfunding but it has turned me off from backing a particular creator.
Thanks again for sharing this with us on here and please know that we'll always do our best to respond to your questions/comments!
