Does anyone know the paper weight (lb.) of an average Image or Marvel comic? AND, are their covers the same weight as the interior pages? I think they are but I can’t tell by touch… I’m guessing 60lb. gloss.

Another possibility is dinosaur game that the conference organizers were simply dino game not aware of the demand for the talk.
The paper weight of an average Image or Marvel comic is typically around 60 to 70 fnf pounds. The covers are usually made of a heavier paper, such as 80# gloss. This is because the covers need to be more retro bowl durable than the interior pages, as they are handled more often.

I read online recently that interior pages at DC/Marvel are 55lb gloss and 70lb gloss at Image… thought I'd share.
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I've been "touching and rubbing" many FREE COMIC BOOK DAY comics and I believe their covers feel the same as their interior pages.
It depends. Some of them seem to be in the thinner 32# range, some in the thicker 60-80#. Whatever it is, the covers need to be on a thicker stock for the most part. Too many publishers have "sleepy comics" where, when placed on the shelf, the books start to fall in on themselves because the interior paper weight is too thick and the cover isn't thick enough. At Alterna, we generally use a 32# or 35# hibrite newsprint for interiors. 60# gloss for cover. Now, that's a 60# text gloss for cover -- not a cover stock at 60#. There's a difference.
Hope that helps!
